This module was co-presented by Gerrie Myburgh, Jakob Jordaan and I which started out with some theoretical training in the morning and ended with lots of practical driving later in the afternoon. What made this venue even more exciting was that the obstacles are properly laid out and well suited to a training environment - trainees could practice the 'Ascent abort/reverse start' procedure over and over until they were completely confident in doing it correctly!
4x4Kungwini has two main courses - a purpose designed 'Training' course and a graded 'Academy' course which allowed us to ease the trainees into the obstacles by first getting them familiar with the controls and features of their vehicles and then throwing them in the deep end on the advanced course.
Both drivers and co-drivers were much more confident in their vehicles' and their own abilities by the end of the day. The day ended at about 16h30 after the assessment and all attendees received their Module 1 attendance certificates. Many thanks to those that attended and especially to Jakob and Gerrie for their assistance in presenting this module.
As a side note, there were no less than nine trainees from this session and previous sessions that participated in the Spring Trial on the Sunday to complete their Module 2 section of the training - well done to you all!
