The LROC 2020 AGM

15 February 2020 - Clint Mason
The Land Rover Owner’s Club held its 60th Annual General Meeting on the 15th of February 2020. This momentous AGM represents the first event of the year which celebrates the tremendous achievement of our club. 60 years young! Celebrations are well deserved.

The AGM event is always well attended, and this year was certainly no exception. Members, new and old converged at the Lapa Area in Rietvlei Nature Reserve to receive detailed feedback on the operational and financial status of the club for the 2019 calendar year.

The Club Chairman, Jakob  Jordaan, detailed the challenges and opportunities which the club faced over the 2019 period as well as providing insight and vision of what might be expected in 2020. This included the reasoning behind some of the constitutional changes which had been proposed and were to be voted on at the AGM.

Brendon Lowe shared his last speech as Vice-Chairman of the Club, detailing the change to theologies which aid in the governance and determination of the LROC events, the reasoning for the change, highlighted some interesting insight achieved through the recent Member Event Survey.

This year, the Club welcomed Wulf Haacke onto the stage. Wulf’s membership activation date is recorded as June 2 1964, making Wulf one of the Clubs longest standing members and it was a proud moment as he walked onto the stage to participate in the presentation of certificates and trophies to achieving members.

With the formalities concluded, Club Members enjoyed one another’s company as braai packs of delicious meat were put above hot smouldering coals, with a large fire occupying a prominent position in the centre of the Lapa area. To all the members who joined us on at this momentous AGM, thank you. It was indeed great meeting and chatting with you all.
