The planning and “recce” for the event at the Willem’sRust campsite started in November 2021 already and at the time I wasn’t sure whether we will be able to fill all the campsites with just series vehicles and of course their families. Thus, we invited all members and at the end of the day, we occupied 14 of the campsites with a total of 23 members and only 3 Series vehicles present, ea. 2 series 2A’s and one 3.
Being a game reserve, it just didn’t make sense to do game drives in convoy, therefore one made it your own weekend. Do what you want at a time you wanted too, etc. Some of us went on extensive self drives or booked a seat on game drives offered by local operators. The game drives yielded mixed results mostly due to the tall grass after the recent good rains. The Arlington Brewery & Cidery proofed to be popular with beer and gin and food on offer.
The summer weather ensured frequent visits to the swimming pool. In the evenings, after dinner, we sat around Gerrie Myburgh’s Kalahari TV and enjoyed the bushveld night in good company.
See you all under the next big tree.
