The Rand Hunt Club is thrilled to invite members of the LROC to a special Hunt on Sunday, 19th January 2025, at the beautiful Inanda Country Base. It’s been a decade since the LROC last visited the Rand Hunt Club, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome you back for this unique and exhilarating experience.
Founded in 1886 as the Germiston Hunt Club, the Rand Hunt Club is steeped in history and tradition. Based in Kyalami, near Johannesburg, the club is a cornerstone of South Africa’s equestrian community. It specializes in drag hunting, a thrilling pursuit where hounds follow a pre-laid scent trail across the countryside, offering all the excitement of a traditional hunt without involving live quarry.
The Rand Hunt’s events are renowned for their vibrant atmosphere, camaraderie, and the spectacle of the hounds at work. Now in its 137th season, the Hunt officially kicked off with the Opening Meet on 24th November 2024, setting the stage for another remarkable year of adventure.
For the LROC members, this event offers a chance to be part of the action in a truly unique way. The LROC convoy will join the “car followers,” navigating a scenic route that lets participants witness the hounds and riders in full flight across the fields. It’s an opportunity to immerse yourself in the tradition and thrill of drag hunting without saddling up!
After the excitement of the hunt, members are invited to relax and unwind with a hearty breakfast or lunch at Fangio’s Restaurant onsite (at your own expense). It’s the perfect way to round off an unforgettable day. This is a rare opportunity to experience the energy and elegance of the Rand Hunt Club’s tradition while enjoying the camaraderie of your fellow LROC members. Don’t miss out— mark your calendars and prepare for a day of history, adventure, and fun!
We can’t wait to see you there!
